The Team at Connemara Abalone

Connemara Abalone is run by Cindy O'Brien (Founder and Managing Director)and Aurkene Belasco-Armandariz (Hatchery Manager). At this point, it is fair to say that Cindy and Aurkene are undoubtedly the two most skilled and experienced abalone aquaculturists in Ireland. Their abalone are happy and healthy animals, as evidenced by the uninhibited exuberance with which they eat, grow, and reproduce. Their health is also certified, of course, by the Irish Food Safety Authority.

Aurkene Belasco-Armandariz

Team Aurkene Belasco-Armandariz (Hatchery Manager): Aurkene is originally from Pamplona, Spain, and she has a Master's Degree in Aquaculture from the National University of Ireland Galway, and an Honors Batchelor's Degree in Marine Sciences from ULPGC, Spain. Read More>>

Team Cindy O'Brien (Founder and Managing Director): Cindy manages the day-to-day operations of the farm. Colin Hannon

Team From Claddaghduff, Clifden, Co. Galway, Colin has two aquaculture degrees from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, and his particular expertise is in growing food that is ideally suited for larval abalone. This enhances the "settlement" and survival rates of the very tinieset abalone by providing the nutrition that they thrive on.
